Siloé: “Not everyone in the group is a believer, nor do we make religious songs”

The group Siloé will offer a concert this afternoon at the vigil of Pope Leo XIV, which will take place in Madrid’s Plaza de Lima. A few weeks ago, the band presented their new album, Terrorismo emocional, at the EL PAÍS Encounters. “Not everyone in the group is a believer, nor do we make religious songs,” explained Fito Robles, the vocalist. “There is a deep search for spirituality, because if it’s linked to your life, it also manifests in the songs,” he pointed out. To which the guitarist, Xavi Road, added: “We carry heavy backpacks and are focused on our music. Spirituality is a fundamental part. Everyone will have to find their own.”

Siloé is one of the bands that will play at the great gathering of young Catholics organized by the Archdiocese of Madrid, where Beret, Antonio José, Hey Kid, DePol, and MALMØ40, among others, will also perform. Spirituality is very present in the group’s conception. Their name refers to a biblical miracle, and their concerts are presided over by a cross and verses on screens. The titles of their albums and songs, such as Santísima Trinidad or Reza por mí, bear witness to this.

The group held a meeting with more than 200 readers of the newspaper as part of the events celebrating EL PAÍS’s 50th anniversary. During the interview with journalist Maite Morate, Siloé reflected on “the power of words,” protagonists of their new work and of the articles they read every day in the newspaper: “We have a formed opinion on a matter and then we read a column by Manuel Jabois or David Trueba and our minds are blown,” Robles noted.

Terrorismo emocional was released on May 8, and Siloé faces a summer of numerous concerts and festivals. The performance before Pope Leo XIV will be one of the stops for the group, which offered more than 100 concerts in 2025 alone. “A great responsibility,” explained their drummer, Jacobo Betanzos. To offer the best possible show during the tour, they have worked with the studio responsible for Muse’s lighting and visuals: “It’s our way of facing what’s coming and trying to give something even better,” he added.
