The PP spokesperson in Congress, Ester Muñoz, defended this Sunday that the Government “could have promoted” the entry of about 70,000 immigrants to Ceuta on July 30 and 31. In statements to the media in Sevilla La Nueva, the deputy considered it “evident” that the Executive had information about the jump to the autonomous city and that they “did not want to protect the border.” Muñoz spoke to journalists before attending the Cristo festivities in the town.

During her intervention, she emphasized that the police device protecting the border on July 31 could not choose whether to open the doors or not, faced with the massive arrival of people from the Moroccan side. “They had reports from recent days. The Civil Guard itself at the beginning of July warned after the Supreme Court ruling that it could happen, that the Government had to change the Immigration law,” she stated. “It is evident that they had the information and did not want to protect our border.”
“Therefore, if we also add the information that came out yesterday, which says that the chief of staff transferred the CNI information the night before to the delegate and that there was an order from Marlaska to do nothing… Well, it is evident that we have a Government that not only abandoned Ceuta but also could have promoted what happened,” the popular spokesperson concluded.
Muñoz insisted that “all immigrants who entered Spain irregularly” must be returned, whether minors or adults. “We have said it many times, [the minors] have to be with their families, or if not, protected by Moroccan social services. There are agreements between Morocco and Spain that say so,” she added.

Regarding a hypothetical distribution of migrants across the peninsula, she stated that “anyone who works in intelligence” is aware that if they are distributed, it can generate a pull effect. “What you are demonstrating is that entering irregularly is rewarded,” she added.
Muñoz insisted that the president of the Government should call elections, that her party has always been very clear about the motion of no confidence, and that they would present it if they had the votes. “It is the partners who continue to support Pedro Sánchez. And they are the ones who must be asked,” she requested.
