The Secretary of Culture Claudia Curiel de Icaza announced this morning a series of events that are part of the Mundial Social initiative, which seeks to welcome national and international tourists with a cultural agenda to accompany the World Cup matches. With an investment of 400 million pesos, the budget was used to restore, improve, and create activities in archaeological zones and museums throughout the country. “We are not working solely for foreign tourism, but for ourselves as Mexicans; we do it with a vocation for the preservation, research, and dissemination of our artistic and archaeological heritage,” said Icaza at a press conference on May 25, when announcing the artistic and cultural program.
