The Andic case has taken a new turn with the statement of a witness who compromises the position of Jonathan Andic, investigated as the alleged perpetrator of the death of his father, Isak Andic, during an excursion to the Montserrat mountain (Barcelona) on December 14, 2024. The witness, a British interpreter and occasional collaborator of the Andics’ therapist, Julia Lüderwaldt, told the Mossos d’Esquadra that the family therapy contemplated, among other things, that father and son would live an extreme experience in a ravine, as reported by El Periódico and confirmed by sources close to the case. Until now, what had emerged was that Isak and Jonathan had gone, alone, on the excursion to talk about their problems.

On May 19, after Jonathan Andic’s arrest, the judge lifted the secrecy of the summary proceedings and also began the round of statements in court. The Mossos d’Esquadra, however, have continued working with the judge’s knowledge, also taking statements from people they consider relevant to solving the case, that is, to find out if what happened in Montserrat that midday was a mountain accident (as the defense maintains) or a homicide and even a murder, according to Judge Raquel Nieto’s rulings. In this context, the double statement of a British woman residing in Spain, who had long expressed her desire to testify, especially for fear that her actions could be interpreted as guilt, took place.
The first statement was made on June 29. The woman went to the Mossos police station in Martorell, the judicial district to which Collbató, the municipality where the founder of Mango died, belongs. The woman revealed that it was she who looked for a mountain route at Julia’s request, as Julia wanted to confront father and son with an extreme situation as part of the therapy she was conducting. The witness explained that she finally decided on the Camí de les Feixades and that she accompanied Jonathan Andic on the route on December 7, that is, a week before the death. The Mossos’ investigation had already confirmed, thanks to license plate reading and location devices, that Jonathan Andic had done the route at least twice in the days prior to the death. According to her statement, the content of which La Vanguardia has detailed further, he did so because he wanted to know the route well to do it with his father.
The interpreter, who occasionally collaborated with Julia with foreign clients, explains that the therapist gave her instructions for father and son to undergo a limit situation. The witness even declared to the Mossos that Jonathan had to stand “on the edge of a cliff” to force an extreme situation, according to her statement.
The woman has followed the development of the Andic case with concern, fearing that her presence on the path in the preceding days could be discovered and interpreted by the Mossos as connivance. The news that the judge was investigating third parties, apart from Jonathan, was what motivated her to come forward and give explanations. The woman handed over to the Mossos the text messages and audio files exchanged with the therapist about the accompaniment.
