Richard Carapaz wins in Alpe d’Huez in the penultimate stage of the Tour de France

Richard Carapaz has won the 20th stage of the Tour de France, held today between Le Bourg d’Oisans and Alpe d’Huez. It is the second for the Ecuadorian in this Tour, leader of the mountains, after the one he achieved on Thursday at the Orcières-Merlette station. The arrival at the mythical Alpine pass for the second consecutive day did not disappoint, with the main general classification contenders in the top positions during the final stretch of the stage. Slovenian Tadej Pogacar, who won authoritatively yesterday in Alpe d’Huez, remains the leader and, barring an accident or an unforeseen event that would be truly strange, will cross the Champs-Élysées in Paris tomorrow as the winner of the Tour de France. It will be his fifth, making him the youngest cyclist to reach that figure, at 27 years old. His name will join those of Jacques Anquetil, Eddy Merckx, Bernard Hinault, and Miguel Indurain, all of whom have five Tours in their palmarès.
