Two PSOE workers pointed this Tuesday in the National Court to the former party Organization Secretary Santos Cerdán as the person who authorized the purchase of tickets and the entries in the parking lot of the headquarters on Ferraz Street in Madrid of the former member Leire Díez. Judge Santiago Pedraz had summoned the two employees, Celia R. and Covadonga S. P., as witnesses to question them about the arrangements they made for the plot for which Cerdán and Leire are charged and which supposedly tried to sabotage judicial cases affecting the Government and PSOE environment. Legal sources present at the interrogation indicate that both have agreed, at the instructor’s request, to have the Civil Guard clone the contents of their phones.
The two PSOE employees were charged in this case, but the judge later revoked that charge after admitting that there is no evidence that they knew they were providing service for criminal purposes. However, Pedraz summoned them as witnesses to gather their testimony and ask them to provide communications they had maintained between April 2024 and June 2025 by any communication channel (WhatsApp, email, etc.) with Cerdán, Díez, the party manager, Ana María Fuentes; and the former president of Correos and previous chief of staff of Pedro Sánchez before becoming president of the Government, Juan Manuel Serrano. Investigators consider that this material from their phones “could be very useful to determine who are the people from whom they might receive relevant instructions” for the investigation and, according to consulted sources, both have given the go-ahead for the cloning.
The workers, according to these sources, have placed all the responsibility on Cerdán and have pointed to him as the person who ordered and authorized the purchase of tickets and Díez’s entry into the garage. The secretaries have admitted that this was an exceptional situation because these arrangements were normally made only for members of the party’s Executive. According to their explanation, once Cerdán had given the go-ahead, Díez wrote directly to them via WhatsApp to notify them that she was going to enter the parking lot.
The PSOE employees have indicated that Díez’s accesses to the garage on Ferraz Street were many, but in most cases, she did not then enter the socialist headquarters, but only left the car. Against the 18 meetings that, according to the Central Operative Unit (UCO) of the Civil Guard, Díez and Cerdán held, the secretaries have indicated that they only knew of three or four being held at the party headquarters, which were also attended by Juan Manuel Serrano and businessman Javier Pérez Dolset, charged in the case. The secretaries, according to these sources, have stated that those meetings were not on the official agenda of the then Organization Secretary.
Regarding the purchase of tickets for Díez, both witnesses have confirmed that PSOE paid for them: Cerdán gave the order to the secretaries and they commissioned the travel agency with which the party usually works and sent them to Díez. They have assured that Cerdán never told them what the then member needed the ticket for, nor did they ask.
They have also distanced themselves from the payments made from Ferraz to lawyers Jacobo Teijelo and Ismael Oliver, linked to the plot. They have indicated that they are not in charge of paying contracts or invoices. Regarding the PSOE manager, Ana Fuentes, also charged in the case, the secretaries have indicated that they did not work for her and she never gave them orders about the lawyers’ contracts.
