On Sunday, July 26, María Casado said goodbye to the viewers of Informativos Telecinco. A few days earlier, the journalist had announced on social media that she was leaving the weekend edition of the Mediaset newscast that she had been directing and presenting since 2024. The decision was due to personal reasons. The difficulty of balancing her life between Málaga and Madrid had led her to decide to take a break.
This break will be short, because this Saturday, just one week after her farewell in front of the cameras, Canal Sur announced in a statement that Casado will be the host of a new entertainment format, La gran audición, which will air in the prime time slot on Saturdays on the Andalusian public television. In the program, which will seek musical talents, Casado will be accompanied by actor, singer, and dancer Pablo Puyol.

In the statement announcing the signing, María Casado says: “La gran audición is much more than a television contest. During the development of the musical talent search program, María Casado will accompany the contestants through the different phases of the program, sharing with the viewers the most human side of the contest and closely following the evolution of the participants from the casting to the final.
The selection process is open and applicants can submit their candidacy until August 12 through the website lagranaudicion.com. After an initial online phase, the program team will conduct a tour of in-person auditions from which the 24 contestants will be selected. The winner will star in a professional production by beon. Entertainment, the company that also produces the program, and the rest of the finalists will have the opportunity to join future casts of productions.
