A 73-year-old man drowned this Sunday in the municipal pool of Jorba (Barcelona), making it ten people who have died in pools in Catalonia since the bathing season began on June 15.

According to Civil Protection on Monday, the emergency number 112 received a call at 18:16 yesterday reporting that a person had been pulled from the water of the municipal pool of Jorba showing signs of drowning. When the Medical Emergency System (SEM) personnel arrived at the scene, they could do nothing to save the man’s life.
With this fatality, ten people have now died in this summer campaign in pools in Catalonia, where around thirty bathers have also been injured by drowning, most of them minors.
