The fiction follows Inspector Leo Caldas, played by Javier Gutiérrez, and his new assistant Estévez, portrayed by Hovik Keuchkerian, in the investigation of the disappearance of Mónica Andrade, daughter of a prestigious surgeon from Vigo. What initially seems like a routine case soon becomes a complex web of secrets, family pressures, political and media interference, and personal conflicts that will force Caldas himself to confront his past.

Alongside Gutiérrez and Keuchkerian, the cast includes María Pujalte, Antonio Mourelos, Alejandra Onieva, and Miryam Gallego, among others. Caldas. The Last Ship is adapted by Goya nominee Eligio R. Montero and directed by Jorge Saavedra. Domingo Villar, the author of the saga, actively participated in the initial creation of the series before his unexpected passing.
