The fatal run-over of a person this Saturday at a level crossing in Talavera de la Reina has caused the closure of the passenger train line connecting Madrid with Extremadura. According to the Railway Infrastructure Administrator (Adif) via social media, the train that hit the victim was a long-distance Alvia running the route between Badajoz and Chamartín station.

For the moment, according to the Emergency and Urgency Coordination Service 112 Castilla-La Mancha reported to Europa Press, the identity of the person who died in this accident, which took place at 11:52 a.m. at the level crossing located on a track parallel to Pepino street, is unknown. The specific circumstances surrounding the incident have also not been disclosed.
After the accident, the circulation of the involved train, Alvia 10299, was cut off with 255 passengers on board. According to Renfe, the travelers “have comfort.”
The operation mobilized by 112 included agents from the National Police, Local Police, emergency doctor, a life support ambulance, and firefighters from Talavera de la Reina.
Closure of line C-2 in Málaga

As a response to the network closure in Andalusia, Adif has established an alternative road transport plan for medium-distance trains between Málaga and Antequera, while the C-2 Cercanías trains will turn around at Cártama.
