The Mossos d’Esquadra have arrested a man with an international arrest warrant issued from Italy, where he had been convicted of sexual exploitation and drug trafficking. The arrest took place on August 13, around 11:00 a.m., during a preventive check on the C-16 as it passed through Castellbell i el Vilar (Barcelona), where the officers responsible for the police operation suspected the individual and upon checking his identification, the alert for the international arrest warrant issued by Italy was triggered.

The detainee, of Colombian nationality and 26 years old, had been sentenced last March in Italy to 20 years in prison for the crimes of drug trafficking and sexual exploitation, committed between January and July 2025, Catalan police sources told EFE.

The detainee lured Colombian women with the promise of work and, once in Italy, forced them into prostitution, as well as supplying them with drugs to sell to their clients. After his arrest in Catalonia, the National Court ordered on the 14th his transfer to Madrid to continue the procedures corresponding to the international warrant issued by Italy.
