Sabrina Carpenter surprises Madonna on stage at Coachella: “Let’s try to get along. We must avoid confrontation”

The rumor started a week ago, after Sabrina Carpenter’s first performance at the Coachella festival in California. Would Madonna appear at the second date? The big music event repeats the lineup for two consecutive weekends, allowing artists to reinvent their show with a week to surprise new attendees. After several songs, the singer looked at the thousands of people occupying the venue set up in Indio, near the desert, and said to them: “Have you ever sung this one?”. The first chords of Vogue began to play, Madonna appeared in the center of the stage and sang: “Strike the pose.”

At that moment, the rumors were confirmed and Carpenter’s second concert turned into a cultural event. Madonna returned to the stage where, 20 years ago, the artist recalled, she had presented Confessions On A Dance Floor part I, just days after announcing on her Instagram account that on July 3 she will release Confessions II, her first work after seven years without releasing an album. “I am very excited to be here with the same boots, the same corset, and the same Gucci jacket I wore then. A very exciting circle closes for me,” Madonna explained.

Just before, after singing only part of Vogue, she performed a new song in collaboration with Carpenter. It was then that she addressed the attendees and gave a brief and astral speech. “We are in the new moon of Taurus,” she began and addressed her colleague, who confessed to being that horoscope. “She is very stubborn,” the pop diva retorted before asking the audience to improve their communication skills: “We think we talk a lot through the phone, but we are not really communicating.”

Then, in a measured communicative juggling, without explicitly referring to President Donald Trump’s military interventions in the Middle East, she again turned to the universe to deliver her particular message of peace. “The other thing we have to do is avoid confrontation because Aries is ruled by Mars, which is the planet of war. So for the rest of the month, let’s try to get along. Let’s try to be together, avoid disagreement. Music brings people together. It is the place where people put their differences aside and have a good time. And I love being part of this healing experience.”

After this moment, she sang a cappella some verses from the first installment of Confessions, thanked Carpenter not only for inviting her to her concert but also for giving her the opportunity to sing alongside someone shorter than her, and the two artists said goodbye with Like a Prayer accompanied by dancers dressed as aspiring priests and a women’s choir.

This same week, Madonna surprisingly released her new single I Feel So Free, exclusively on an LGBTIQ+ radio station, Pride Radio, which is part of the iHeartRadio network, where it will play every hour throughout this weekend. For now, no official details about its release on digital platforms have been confirmed.
