The forest fire declared by a lightning strike last Thursday in Segorbe (Castellón) has been declared stabilized at 7:30 a.m. this Sunday by the Provincial Firefighters Consortium of Castellón, according to the Emergency Coordination Center of the Generalitat.

The firefighting services have worked through the night to try to stabilize this fire, which has burned 630 hectares of Sierra Calderona, and has kept about a thousand residents of the Valencian town of Gátova evacuated since Friday. About thirty remain in a shelter, attended by the Red Cross, in the municipal sports center of Bétera.
During the night, six units and six fire trucks from the Forest Firefighters Service of the Generalitat Valenciana, four Special Units of Forest Firefighters for Forest Fires from the Provincial Firefighters Consortium of Castellón, and four forest brigades from the Provincial Firefighters Consortium of Valencia have worked. The Military Emergency Unit (UME) is being demobilized.

The fire was still active yesterday Saturday but with a favorable evolution thanks to an improvement in weather conditions and the concentration of aerial means, 25, and ground forces, with 350 personnel on site.
The balance of burned hectares, according to the Emergency Minister of the Generalitat, Juan Carlos Valderrama, explained on Saturday afternoon, was practically the same as in the morning: about 630 hectares burned, all in the Sierra Calderona natural park (62% are from Segorbe and 38% from Gátova), with a perimeter of 18 kilometers.
