The Minister of the Interior, Fernando Grande-Marlaska, has insisted that the National Intelligence Center (CNI) did not report the possibility of a mass entry of migrants in Ceuta, thus contradicting the words of the Defense Minister, Margarita Robles, who on Tuesday, during her appearance in Congress, stated that the CNI did communicate the eventuality to the Government. Marlaska has maintained what he has defended from the beginning: “There was no report that foresaw that on July 30 what finally happened would occur.”

“We have exceptional intelligence services and I am convinced that in this case they acted perfectly,” the Minister of the Interior defended during the press conference following the Council of Ministers on Tuesday. Marlaska emphasized that “no other intelligence service from friendly countries nor any other intelligence investigation group foresaw anything similar.” Thus, he reiterated that he is “convinced” that “everyone obviously acted correctly.”
For her part, the Defense Minister had assured shortly before in the Defense Commission in Congress that the information gathered by the 25 CNI agents stationed in Ceuta “was shared and analyzed” with the State Security Forces and with the Government Delegation. “The intelligence services and obviously the CNI carried out the work that was and is competently required of them, and shared and analyzed it with the State Security Forces and with the personnel of the Government Delegation,” she stated.
