La Primitiva is not only one of the most popular draws in Spain, but also one of the oldest. Its history began back in 1763 under the name “Lotería por Números”. How do the prizes work?
This draw offers a wide variety of prizes that are calculated based on the numbers you manage to guess. The awards are organized by categories:
- Minimum category: Activated by guessing at least 3 numbers.
- Special category: The jackpot, reserved for those who manage to guess the 6 numbers of the winning combination plus the refund number.

How to play La Primitiva
To try your luck in this draw, you can fill out your ticket either physically (at any lottery administration) or online (through the official website of Loterías y Apuestas del Estado). You have two available game modes:
- Simple bets: Consist of selecting 6 numbers (from 1 to 49) in each of the blocks you want to play.
- Multiple bets: If you want to increase your chances, you can mark between 5 and 11 numbers in the same block. The more numbers you select, the more combinations you will be playing at once.
