One of the three Spaniards missing after the floods in Nepal rescued

The Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) has indicated in its latest bulletin that one of the three Spanish citizens listed as missing following the devastating floods that have swept entire communities along the Nepal-Tibet border has been located, without providing further details. The Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which on Thursday reported four Spaniards missing, had lowered the figure to three people.

In its latest report, the official body includes one Spanish national in the “rescued” section, while keeping two other citizens on the list of missing persons, without providing further details about the identity or circumstances of the finding at this time.

Hours earlier, the Government of Nepal had published a list with the identities of more than 600 missing tourists, including two Spanish women and one man.

“At 5:30 p.m. [local time, around two in the afternoon in mainland Spain] on August 28, 2026, 121 people have been rescued and 622 remain unaccounted for,” reads the statement from the Nepalese organization, which had recorded a total of 743 missing persons.

According to the same document, among the rescued are one Belgian, one Bulgarian, 16 Chinese, 85 Indians, two Italians, one Portuguese, two Russians, nine South Koreans, one Swiss, and two Americans.

Nepalese authorities raised the number of missing persons to 1,924 on Friday after adding more than 900 workers from hydroelectric projects destroyed by the waters, three days after the devastating flood that struck the country.

According to the latest bulletin from the National Authority for Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (NDRRMA), the number of people out of contact after the overflow of the Bhote Koshi River, which has swept entire communities between Nepal and Tibet, drastically increased compared to the 977 missing reported hours earlier.

Among those cut off are 933 hydroelectric plant employees, more than a hundred security forces personnel and customs staff, and hundreds of foreign tourists, Nepalese residents abroad, and local citizens.

The death toll has risen to at least 579 in Nepal and five in Tibet, while dozens of rescue teams continue combing the river currents and banks. In Pokhara, in central Nepal, where more than a hundred bodies found in the basins of districts such as Tanahun, Gorkha, and Dhading have been transferred, dozens of families try to identify their relatives through photographs projected on screens or displayed on public walls.
