A 26-year-old hiker died this Friday after falling down a slope in the Estany Gémena de Dalt area, in the Vall de Boí (Lleida). According to the Firefighters, at 12:47 p.m. they received a report from a hiker who alerted that his companion had fallen down a slope to a difficult-to-access area and was not responding.

The Firefighters dispatched a rescue helicopter from the Air Media Unit with personnel from the Special Operations Group and a doctor from the Medical Emergency System (SEM).
The Firefighters located the mountaineer’s body at 1:18 p.m., who was already dead, as certified by the SEM doctor.
The Firefighters stayed at the scene guarding the victim while his companion was taken to Pont de Suert (Lleida), where he received psychological care from the SEM.
