Migrants arrive at the new facility set up in Ceuta
After more than a kilometer and a half on foot, the first migrants are arriving at the tents of the new facility in the Los Rosales neighborhood of Ceuta. When the police woke them up, there were moments of confusion because many thought they were being transferred to Morocco, but upon discovering they were to be placed in an official facility, they cooperated with the authorities.
The transfer from the outskirts of Loma Colmenar has been on foot since seven in the morning. The police have led hundreds of people to their new location through the streets of Ceuta. The migrants applauded upon arriving at the tents.

The president of the Popular Party (PP), Alberto Núñez Feijóo, has stated that “Morocco’s aggression continues” in Ceuta and that the crisis in the autonomous city “will be Sánchez’s epitaph.” In an interview published this Sunday by the newspaper El Mundo, the PP leader pointed out that the person responsible for the massive entry of migrants into Ceuta “by action or omission,” and “even knowing that information was lacking,” is Morocco. “Morocco knew about these movements, was aware of their impact, and did not prevent them,” he said, adding that there is a “shared responsibility,” since “Spain knew not just the risk, but that this was going to happen. It was more than a potential risk and it did not prevent it either.”

Asked whether the response of the Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, to this crisis is conditioned because Morocco has information obtained from his phone, Feijóo emphasized that it is “impossible to find a reasonably rational explanation that does not go through there.” “Sánchez has chosen to discredit, with a reputational impact on our image, the Intelligence services of our country and the State Security Forces and Corps, so it is evident that there must be a very personal reason that does not allow him to freely defend what he has to defend,” he asserted. While the Government continues work to find new locations for the migrants remaining in Ceuta and process their return, many of them continue to expand their camps in various areas of the autonomous city amid complaints and protests from neighbors. The Minister of Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory, Ángel Víctor Torres, chaired a meeting this Saturday to establish the opening of new spaces in Ceuta to increase screenings of migrants who arrived at the end of July and thus be able to repatriate to Morocco those who do not have the right to international protection.
