Marc Márquez is once again the boss in MotoGP. With another recital in Misano, the seven-time world champion and defending champion achieved his fifth Sunday victory this season at the San Marino GP to capture a lead that was more than 100 points during the previous visit of the paddock to Italy, eight races ago. With a two-faced display, aggression and speed when necessary and cold blood and management to tame the rest of the rivals, number 93 took the lead of the championship for the first time this season after tying points (274) with Jorge Martín.

The Aprilia Spaniard could only be fifth on a day also marked by Marco Bezzecchi’s accident in front of his home crowd, his teammate at the Noale factory and the other big candidate to fight for the title in 2026 who now remains 33 points behind both. Thanks to his greater number of wins, Márquez leads the standings after celebrating on the podium alongside his brother Álex Márquez (Ducati Gresini), second disguised as the beloved Marco Simoncelli, and his future teammate, Pedro Acosta (KTM).

Spanish festival in Misano
Sunday’s race set an unprecedented collective record in MotoGP. Up to six Spanish riders occupied the first six positions at the finish line, an unprecedented milestone in the nearly eight decades of World Championship history for any nationality. In addition to the podium protagonists, the Spanish display in Misano was completed by Fermín Aldeguer, Jorge Martín, and Raúl Fernández, with Fabio Di Giannantonio in seventh place as the first Italian under the checkered flag.
