The Mossos d’Esquadra are searching for the young man who last Saturday the 12th at noon assaulted a girl of about 22 years old who was running through a forested area of the Aiguaviva Parc urbanization in Vidreres (Girona) and raped her. According to sources close to the case, the attacker was carrying a sickle in his hand at the moment he encountered the victim, and they did not know each other.

The Mossos have confirmed that the rape occurred on Saturday at noon, but have not provided further information about this case, which would be the first of this nature to happen in Vidreres in the last 15 years, according to municipal sources.
The events took place in a forested area of the Aiguaviva Parc Urbanization, a large residential development where single-family homes predominate and where, according to the National Institute of Statistics (INE), in 2024 there were 1,891 inhabitants out of a total of 8,995.

Once they became aware of the events, through 112, several Mossos d’Esquadra patrols went to where the victim, of Spanish nationality, was, who was taken to a reference hospital for this type of case to be examined by a forensic doctor, as the protocol dictates. She was also offered psychological and legal assistance.
For its part, the investigation of the case passed into the hands of the agents of the Criminal Investigation Division (DIC) of Girona. One of the hypotheses considered as to why the attacker would carry a sickle is that he was collecting shrubs such as heather or mastic. This activity has been common for a few weeks in the forests of Girona, and it is easy to find people in vans doing this type of collection for commercial or industrial purposes.
