Betis does not stop, does not want to. The Andalusians achieved their fifth victory of the season against a worthy Getafe thanks to a great first half and a second in which they controlled much more than they attacked. Betis has become a reliable team by reaching third place, tied on points with Madrid in second. A victory forged thanks to their squad depth, where players like Deossa, who had an open exit door in the summer, shone. Getafe competed until the end, although they had to bow to the verdiblanco quality. In their fight for a draw, they committed up to 24 fouls.

Getafe, therefore, performed a quite commendable exercise of resistance against Betis. A team in great form, with a deep squad, which led Pellegrini to make up to seven changes compared to the team that won in Villarreal. With Isco and Antony at a high level, the verdiblanco side subjected Getafe to a small siege. In that battle, there were moments of true pressure and others in which the Madrid side came out better. But the initiative was always Betis’, with an Antony who did not stop pressing on Soria’s goal. The goalkeeper’s save in the 28th minute to a shot from the Brazilian was sublime, with the ball ending up on the post.
Betis made up to 13 shots in the first half. The match broke, curiously, on a counterattack play. Minute 45 and a long ball from Deossa to Abde. The Moroccan passed to Antony and he to Parrott, a forward who besides scoring knows what to do with the ball. His measured pass to the far post was finished by Abde. The goal had to be examined with a magnifying glass, but VAR validated it. It was legal because Isco was not offside in front of Soria, with Djené very close to the goal line. Junior was also saved in the middle of that first half after a hard tackle on Francho in which he risked a red card.
Betis lowered the pace in the second half. They gave more initiative to Getafe, trying to control the ball with the entry of Dani Ceballos. With a great Deossa, the verdiblancos were carving out the victory while Getafe tried desperately. The home team had the best chances, with Romero clearing off the line a shot from Antony. Everything ended with the second yellow card to Mario Martín, a good player, who must control his tackles better. Betis won, unbeatable at La Cartuja, where they have not lost in the League since December 6, 2025, against Barcelona (3-5).

“We gave everything, but we had no reward. Betis is in great form, with a great squad. We were organized, but I think the goal is a very doubtful play, because Isco blocks Soria’s visibility, but we have to keep going. I take away the fight of my players,” said José Bordalás.
“The start is very motivating, 15 out of 18 points. Getafe is very strong, defends very well, we scored and then had more chances, but we did not make the second. The best was our defense, because they barely reached us. If there is a fair winner in this match it was Betis. Getafe defended very well, but barely reached us,” said Manuel Pellegrini.
