The 74th edition of the San Sebastián International Film Festival this year features one of the great stars of contemporary cinema: Naomi Watts. The British actress has traveled to the capital of Gipuzkoa to receive the Donostia Award, one of the highest honorary recognitions of the festival, which honors exceptional careers in the film industry.
The award will be presented to her on September 19 at the Kursaal and recognizes a career marked by versatility and international prestige. Over more than three decades, Watts has skillfully alternated auteur cinema with major commercial productions, becoming one of the most respected performers of her generation. Her filmography includes key titles such as Mulholland Drive, by David Lynch; 21 Grams, by Alejandro González Iñárritu; King Kong, by Peter Jackson; and The Impossible, by J.A. Bayona, a role for which she received an Oscar nomination for Best Actress. Additionally, she is not attending the festival only as an honoree. The actress is also presenting The Housewife, a film set in 1964 New York and based on true events, which tells the story of a young journalist’s investigation into a former Nazi officer hiding in the United States.
