The police and diligent employees of a parcel service have thwarted the shipment of a psychotropic Eiffel Tower. It was a method by which two drug traffickers were trying to send drugs worth 80,000 euros abroad, mixed with pieces of this detachable toy. However, their modus operandi aroused suspicion among the shipping company’s workers, and the police confirmed it. After several months of investigation, the police have arrested two men as material perpetrators and have identified the one who designed the plan, who was already in prison for other offenses.

It all began on August 22, when the package company workers notified the police that they had set aside a suspicious box. The man who wanted to send the package abroad did not provide any invoice and demanded that it not be checked in any way, claiming it contained “collector’s items” that could be damaged during handling.
The officers went to the point where the man had left the package and, upon arrival, found that it was a large cardboard package containing “three boxes, made up of 12 transparent bags in which toy pieces were mixed with orange cloud-shaped pills and four more bags with pink powdery substance,” the force specified in a statement. Inside that box, there was nothing worthy of a collector’s archive, but rather an Eiffel Tower in pieces mixed with pills and colored powder.

The value of the drugs contained in the plastic bags could have reached more than 80,000 euros on the market. “In total, 5000 MDMA pills and almost 800 grams of powdery substance, which turned out to be ketamine and MDMA, were seized,” the police detailed.
The police investigation determined that two men were responsible for that shipment. One was in charge of going to a shopping center to acquire the toy in which they were going to try to hide the pills and the narcotic powder. The other was the one who took the package to the shipping company. This second one did not fully comply with his part of the plan. He was a young man who went to the company without the corresponding invoice, which is necessary to prove the content of the package, and also refused the inspection of the merchandise, for which he claimed the excuse that it was a collector’s item.

All this, coupled with a nervous attitude, gave him away even more. Furthermore, he used false sender details that did not match his documentation. As if these alarms weren’t enough, he made the payment for the processing with cash, as a mechanism to avoid being linked to the shipment.
The agents, as part of their investigation, reached the place where the toy was purchased. The other man involved had gone to a store in a Madrid shopping center on August 20 and asked the clerk for “a toy made up of the largest number of pieces.” His objective was not to test his intellect, but to have enough space to place his merchandise. The detainee purchased an item which he paid for in cash, even though it cost more than 600 euros. Furthermore, he did not remove his motorcycle helmet at any time, despite being in an enclosed space.
The police officers in charge of the case managed to identify the two individuals involved in the shipment after several months of inquiries, as well as the mastermind behind the plan. “It was a third male who commissioned the preparation and shipment of the merchandise,” the police noted. This individual was in prison following an investigation related to large-scale drug trafficking, which concluded in October 2025.
On March 18, searches and raids were carried out at the homes of these two individuals, who were arrested at that very moment as alleged perpetrators of a crime against public health. The judge ordered their immediate imprisonment.
