National Police agents have arrested a 53-year-old woman in Valencia as the alleged perpetrator of a continuous theft crime against elderly people. The arrested woman allegedly took advantage of her position as an employee in nursing homes to steal valuables from the victims.
The investigations began in August 2023, following the complaint of a nonagenarian residing in a nursing home in Valencia. She was the one who detected two unauthorized charges on her bank card for amounts of 1,000 and 1,600 euros, according to the Police in a statement.
The agents’ inquiries revealed that an employee of the center, taking advantage of her work position, had committed the theft. However, the suspect had already been dismissed after allegedly being caught by another employee with belongings of a resident.

The agents confirmed that the now arrested woman allegedly stole jewelry from elderly people in a situation of “special vulnerability.” They resided in nursing homes where staff access to their rooms is common, which would have facilitated the commission of the acts.
According to the Police, the woman had allegedly sold stolen jewelry on at least 23 occasions between February 2024 and March 2026, distributing them through various buying and selling establishments in the city, obtaining a profit of more than 9,300 euros. For all these reasons, the investigators arrested her as the alleged perpetrator of a continuous theft crime. The arrested woman has already been brought before the court.
