Mexico City’s Zócalo is preparing to host one of the most anticipated children’s concerts of the year: the iconic Chilean show 31 Minutos arrives at the Plaza de la Constitución this Thursday, April 30, to celebrate Children’s Day. The event is scheduled for 7:00 p.m., with free access for all the public and as part of the cultural offerings promoted by the city government and the Secretariat of Culture. With this performance, 31 Minutos closes a tour in Mexico — where Tulio, Juanín, and Bodoque have visited states such as Jalisco, Puebla, and Yucatán — before continuing with more concerts in Chile.

Despite the contingency, the show goes on
The 31 Minutos concert is part of the programming of the Zócalito de las Infancias 2026, a free festival whose second edition began days earlier in the same space, from April 24 to 26, with daytime activities aimed at children. The program was canceled last Saturday due to the activation of the environmental contingency in the Metropolitan Area of the Valley of Mexico; however, the 31 Minutos performance remains scheduled and will take place as originally planned.
The concert will combine the Chilean group’s musical classics with a live show format designed to be enjoyed by both children and young people and adults who grew up with the program. Iconic songs such as Mi muñeca me habló, Bailan sin cesar, and Mi equilibrio espiritual are expected to be performed, along with appearances by characters like Tulio Triviño, Juan Carlos Bodoque, Patana Tufillo, and Calcetín con Rombos Man, who have become cult figures in the region.
31 Minutos originated on Chile’s Televisión Nacional signal more than two decades ago as a satirical children’s television program that mixed puppets, absurd humor, and social criticism. It quickly became a phenomenon that transcended borders and established itself as a cultural reference throughout much of Latin America. In Mexico, the band and its characters became part of the popular imagination of several generations, who grew up identifying with its subtle irony, irreverent lyrics, and ability to address everyday topics with a close and playful language.

Recommendations for attending
The Mexico City Government issued some recommendations for those planning to attend the 31 Minutos concert this Thursday: arrive early and wear comfortable clothing, a cap, and sunscreen, as well as bottled water to avoid dehydration or heatstroke. It is also recommended to locate emergency exits, follow the instructions of security and Civil Protection personnel, and for attendees to agree on a meeting point with their companions. Finally, carrying any sharp objects, glass, and large backpacks is prohibited. Partly cloudy weather is expected in the capital this Thursday.
The capacity of the Plaza de la Constitución, although large, can quickly become saturated due to the group’s popularity. It is suggested to arrive from 4:00 or 5:00 p.m. It is also advisable to check announcements of road closures and alternate routes that the city authority will publish on its official channels in the hours prior to the event.
Broadcast on public television
For those who cannot attend the Zócalo, the 31 Minutos show will be broadcast live on Canal 11 and Canal 14, allowing families at home to be part of the Children’s Day celebration.
