This morning a car ran over seven cyclists in the Madrid municipality of Brunete, on the M-600, at kilometer 33,900. The injured, all men between 25 and 50 years old, have been taken to different hospitals in the region. A SUMMA 112 helicopter intervened in the operation, evacuating one of the cyclists to the Puerta de Hierro Hospital with a severe traumatic brain injury. Four of his companions have a moderate prognosis and two suffer minor injuries, mainly fractures and contusions. The 19-year-old driver had to be treated by health services after suffering an anxiety attack.

The vehicle involved, a gray Volkswagen, has dents on the front and a completely broken windshield, indicating a possible rear-end collision, with the cyclists riding ahead. Several bicycles were scattered on the shoulder. Other cyclists helped in the operation by blocking access to facilitate the arrival of emergency services, which also included several ambulances. Agents from the Civil Guard, responsible for the investigation, and the Local Police have arrived at the scene.
