After a cycle of educational strikes in Catalonia that lasted more than three months and intense negotiations over two weeks, finally unions and the Department of Education managed to reach a preliminary agreement on Friday, which must be ratified by teachers in the coming days to become final. It is a pact that complements and expands the one signed in March with CC OO and UGT, minorities in education, and represents an investment of 2 billion euros over four years. To this amount will be added 726 million more from the new agreement, signed by the two major unions (Ustec and Aspepc), as well as UGT and CC OO. These are the points covered in the document.

Salaries
New salary supplement: called the teaching improvement supplement, all teachers will receive it starting in 2026 and it will be 50 euros per month for the first two years, 100 euros in 2028, and 173 euros in 2029.
The 30% increase in the regional supplement – about 210 euros per month – agreed in March is accelerated and will take effect in three years instead of four.
The sum of both increases – resulting from the negotiations – will allow teachers to earn almost 400 euros more per month in four years. But if state increases are added, the figure rises to 600 euros.
The return of the debt for seniority bonuses (cut in 2012) is agreed upon, over a period of five years.

Staff for inclusive school
A total of 6,413 teachers and educators will be added to attend students with special needs over the next four school years: 1,088 already in September, 1,651 in the following two years, and 2,023 in the 2029-30 school year.
Curriculum
Although pedagogical aspects are not part of their functions, unions will be consulted on future curricular modifications, including decrees related to basic education, vocational training, or high school.
Secondary school chairs
This figure is reinstated and Education will call for 2,500 secondary school professor positions in 2027 and 2,500 in 2028.
