Iran attacks Kuwait and Bahrain with missiles after the United States struck its radars in the Strait of Hormuz

Early this Saturday morning, Iran launched several attacks against US military bases in Kuwait and Bahrain, which the American army claimed to have intercepted. “We attacked US bases in the region with missiles launched in response to the American attack on the islands of Sirik and Qeshm,” the Iranian Revolutionary Guard published in a statement. The American military command detailed that it had intercepted six ballistic missiles, while a seventh had not reached its target.

Previously, the United States Central Command (Centcom) reported that its forces attacked Iranian coastal surveillance radar facilities located in Goruk and on Qeshm Island, after Iran launched drones in the Strait of Hormuz, which were also intercepted.

According to the Iranian elite corps, the attacks in the strait sought to prevent the passage of four oil tankers attempting to cross this point without permission from Tehran. Bahrain’s Ministry of Interior reported activating anti-aircraft alarms, as did the Kuwaiti agency Kuna.

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard claimed that its attacks damaged the headquarters of the US Fifth Fleet, based in Bahrain, something that Centcom later denied, in addition to reporting that it had intercepted all missiles.

“The United States will be responsible for the consequences of the complete closure of the Strait of Hormuz to oil and gas exports if they maintain their bad actions,” the elite corps added. The incidents occur amid growing tensions between Washington and Tehran, and after several clashes recorded in recent days near the strategic maritime passage, through which a significant part of global oil trade transits.

Despite the series of attack exchanges in the region in the last three weeks, Washington insists that the ceasefire remains in effect since April.
