The PSC has announced that it will facilitate the municipal government team of Girona, formed by Guanyem and ERC, in approving the new budget, after being left in the minority following Junts’ departure from the tripartite coalition that had been leading the City Council until now. The socialists have managed to get the two groups that make up the government to accept six points to be developed in the remaining months of the term, which are the key to the agreement. The approval of the budget will take place this Friday in an extraordinary plenary session scheduled for 08:30 hours.

The PSC has obtained a guarantee of protection for Jordi Vilamitjana park, initially affected by the future Truetay Hospital project, and the transfer by the City Council of land to the Ministry of Culture for the construction of the new Provincial Historical Archive. The socialists and the municipal government have agreed to jointly seek alternatives with the current managers of the Cinema Truffaut room so that it remains a benchmark in Catalonia for original version programming.
The agreement includes greater control of the garbage service with the start of preparation work for the new contract planned for 2030, and the reorganization of Creu street also forms part of the agreement. The municipal government and the socialists will set up a monitoring commission that will meet monthly to evaluate the degree of execution of the pact.
Junts left the tripartite coalition on the 14th due to disagreements with municipal management and “due to the accumulation of breaches.” Mayor Lluc Salellas has welcomed the “specific agreement” and assured that the different points were already contemplated by the municipal government. The deputy mayor and leader of ERC in Girona, Quim Ayats, has acknowledged that the new situation after Junts’ departure requires “dialogue capacity, commitment, and generosity from everyone.” Socialist councilor Maxi Fuentes has described the agreement as “good” and pointed out that his party is “on the side of the City Council when doing so means benefiting the city.”
