Joaquín El Chapo Guzmán has denounced, for the umpteenth time, that he is living a nightmare in prison. The drug lord, sentenced to life imprisonment in the US in 2019, has asked the New York judge handling his case to give him “fair treatment” in the maximum security prison in Colorado, where he is being held, according to the Mexican newspaper Milenio published this Friday. The former leader of the Sinaloa Cartel is subjected to an extreme isolation regime. In a handwritten letter in English, the criminal has also requested the “protection” of his human rights as provided by the US constitution.

The content of the letter is confusing, especially due to Guzmán’s level of English. In the text, who was the most powerful drug trafficker in the world, according to Washington, has stated that, according to “constitutional laws, the court has the right that [these] be connected and used for equal protection” in his case.
