A 47-year-old woman has been arrested for a multiple stabbing in one of the most touristy areas of central London, according to the Metropolitan Police on Wednesday. Four people have been taken to a hospital, according to a spokesperson for the London Ambulance Service, who confirmed receiving an alert call at 12:30 (one hour later in mainland Spain) about the incident that occurred in Covent Garden.
The suspect remains in custody and, according to the Metropolitan Police, officers dispatched to the scene seized a pair of scissors before proceeding to arrest her for alleged assault and possession of a weapon. Although the investigation continues, a police spokesperson has indicated that the origin of the incident appears related to mental health, suggesting there is no evidence pointing to a terrorist attack. For now, it is unknown whether the detainee knew the victims of the assault.

The injured, all men aged between 34 and 52, were initially treated at the scene, on Endell Street, one of the longest avenues in the popular London district, and then taken by ambulance to a hospital, although the health service had dispatched a helicopter to the nearby Trafalgar Square, where the landing caused a stir among passersby.
