Javier Ruiz finally says goodbye this Friday to RTVE and Mañaneros 360, the current affairs program that he revived in audiences alongside Adela González, to become director of the new TDT channel La Séptima, sources from the public broadcaster tell this newspaper. The shuffle of faces in the live programs of La 1 and La 2 caused by his departure is already settled, with Jesús Cintora inheriting the morning show alongside González as the main change and the creation of a new entertainment magazine for weekend afternoons.

Cintora will return from his vacation on August 24 and will then join Mañaneros 360. In addition to Adela González, Miriam Moreno will remain at the helm of the program. Meanwhile, Aída Bao will take charge of the show during these weeks of August, after achieving great ratings in summer alongside Álex Barreiro on La hora de La 1.
This change also requires renewing the faces of Malas lenguas for the new season. It will happen starting Monday, August 31. For the original segment of the program, the one dedicated to political debate that airs Monday to Friday on La 2 (from 17:45 to 19:35), Gonzalo Miró will be accompanied by Esther Palomera, deputy director of eldiario.es. The journalist will combine her work at the newspaper with her new role on the program, where she had already participated as an analyst. Palomera decided not to be part of the Malas lenguas segment more focused on crime news, that is, the later segment that airs on La 1 (from 19:35 to 20:25). In that case, Miró will have as a partner the Andalusian journalist Ana Hinestrosa, who said goodbye two weeks ago to her current affairs program on Canal Sur Hoy en día, which she had co-hosted since 2020, “to explore new worlds,” she said on air.
As EL PAÍS reported last week, Jesús Cintora requested in the preparation of his new contract with RTVE to remain in charge of Malas lenguas noche, the live magazine that keeps growing in audience on Saturday nights on La 2. Therefore, the journalist will combine the mornings on La 1 with the Saturday night program on La 2.
The next move in this cascade of changes will be the faces of the other current affairs program on La 1 afternoons, Directo al grano. Martín Barreiro, RTVE’s weatherman and already leading the show this summer, will definitively replace Miró. He will share the set with Marta Flich, who has been on the format since its inception.
The fate of Silvia Intxaurrondo on La hora de La 1, the morning show before Mañaneros 360 on RTVE’s main channel, had been uncertain for months. The presenter sued the public broadcaster at the end of 2025. Since then, she has been demanding the maintenance of certain economic conditions and prerogatives linked to her previous contractual relationship with the Corporation. The journalist has not returned to the show since she left in mid-June for vacation, but sources from the corporation confirm to EL PAÍS that her return is imminent. The journalist will be back on air on Monday, August 10, almost two months after her departure.
The veteran Aquí la Tierra began a new stage a few weeks ago, marked by in-house production. In this new season, it will close the afternoons on La 1, with Jacob Petrus remaining at the helm of the show Monday to Friday and Marc Santandreu being its presenter for the Sunday broadcast.
On weekends, La 1 will also bet on live broadcasts. It will do so with a new entertainment program on Saturday and Sunday afternoons, in the style of Aquí la Tierra. For now, the public broadcaster has not decided who will be the faces of this new show. Its presence in that time slot forces deep changes in a classic like Cine de barrio. The program moves to La 2 with a new format featuring interviews and collaborators recorded on video, but without its characteristic set, to modernize its content and contextualize the weekly movie broadcast differently.
The strength in audiences of all these current affairs magazines on La 1 and La 2 in July and so far in August shows that these formats work regardless of who is in charge of them. Aída Bao and Álex Barreiro have recorded great figures on La hora de La 1, despite Silvia Intxaurrondo’s absence. The mornings on the public broadcaster’s main channel have continued to be leaders in recent months. And Gonzalo Miró’s debut this week on Malas lenguas has achieved good ratings on both La 1 and La 2, without his absence on Directo al grano affecting the audience of Marta Flich’s afternoon program.
