The musician Felipe Gutiérrez, known as Felipe Lipe, founding member of the group Tequila, along with Ariel Rot and Alejo Stivel, has died at the age of 68, according to Rot’s announcement on his social media.
Lipe was retired from public life, so it was his former bandmate who announced his death, which occurred on Tuesday.

“I am just recording in some studios in the Barrio de la Concepción where we spent years rehearsing and making a living. Felipe, Julián, Manolo, what sadness,” said the Argentine singer and guitarist on Instagram.
The group was formed by Argentines Alejo Stivel (vocals) and Ariel Rot, along with Julián Infante (guitar), Felipe Lipe (bassist) and Manolo Iglesias (drummer) after the arrival of the first two in Madrid in 1976, fleeing the coup d’état in their country.

The band remained active for six years (1977-1983) during which they released four albums. Their first album was Matrícula de honor (1978) followed by three others: Rock and Roll (1979), Viva Tequila (1980) and Confidencial (1981).
They achieved success thanks to songs like Salta or Rock and Roll en la plaza del pueblo.
Only Stivel and Rot remain from the group, as Infante and Iglesias died victims of AIDS.
