Javier Ruiz said goodbye live on RTVE this Friday and to his program, Mañaneros 360, inviting viewers to continue tuning in to La 1’s program and to stay connected to journalistic information. “There has never been a more important time to seek information. We are living through a plague of things that are not true, of lies with two very different axes, but with the same goal,” the journalist began recounting.

The Mañaneros 360 team prepared a farewell video for their presenter recalling his arrival at the news program at a historic moment, the election of a new Pope in Rome in May 2025. In their journey through it, his colleagues also included the recent exclusive interview conducted with José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero.
Before heading to La Séptima, the new DTT channel where he will be editorial director, Ruiz insisted in his last minutes on air on RTVE that “we are living through a plague of journalism falsification; of making people believe that we are all the same, that those who attack are the same as those who ask; that those who cover up are the same as those who report; of making people believe that we all do the same: journalism and sectarianism,” he said looking at the camera.

“There is a plague of journalism falsification and there is a plague of truth falsification to and for turning your neighbors into traitors, to turn the different into threats, and to turn dissent into betrayal. These are plagues that spread fear, confusion, to dilute the truth so that we all find ours in magic, witchcraft, or voodoo of certain authoritarian political figures.”
“The last time I said goodbye to you, I told you there is a war out there. Now there is a final battle. And the final battle is not about national sovereignty. It is the sovereignty of your attention… of whom you pay attention to and whom you do not, and whom you believe and whom you do not. So I leave here telling you to stay connected and reminding you that you have never had so much power in your hands, that you have seen everything that has been happening to us. Many people have become very nervous. You have the power in your hands, in the vote, but above all in the remote control. Reward journalism, punish the trash. We all know how to distinguish one thing from another,” he continued.
“It has been a pleasure, it has been a pride to serve you in this trench, in this battle, and to fight that battle for you. And we will see you here on Monday, on Mañaneros. Well… you will see them. I will also see you, but by your side, as a viewer,” the journalist concluded.

José Pablo López, president of RTVE, said goodbye to Ruiz through social media with the following message: “Javier Ruiz and the great team of Mañaneros 360 close a chapter signing a historic audience for La 1. Thanks for the work and for enduring so much campaigning. We will miss you, Javier… and your graphics too. Good luck in your new projects.”
Javier Ruiz’s joining Mañaneros 360 in May 2025 marked a turning point in La 1’s morning program that boosted its ratings. The program was born in September 2023 as an entertainment magazine with Jaime Cantizano at the helm. In summer 2024, Adela González took over the format, and it was in May 2025 when Mañaneros transformed into Mañaneros 360 with the arrival of Javier Ruiz and a shift in content that left out entertainment and gave more presence to politics and current affairs analysis. The format went from around 8% share to nearly doubling its audience.
Mañaneros 360 closed the 2025-2026 season as the leader in its time slot with a 15.9% average share. According to figures published by RTVE, La 1 had not achieved such a high figure in that slot since the 2006-2007 season. It also did very well in the second part of the program, with an 11.6% average share, the best figure in that slot in a decade.
