The man who murdered his ex-partner last Wednesday in a shopping center in Murcia will go to provisional prison, communicated and without bail, investigated for a crime of murder, with the aggravating circumstance of kinship, and a continued crime of breach of sentence, according to the judge of the number 4 plaza of the Civil and Instruction Section of the Court of Instance of Lorca, with competencies in matters of violence against women. In his statement before the magistrate, the accused has admitted his participation in the events, as stated in the resolution.
For the judge, at this moment in the investigation, there are “consistent indications that allow attributing to the accused the authorship” of the events and sends him to provisional prison due to the seriousness of the crimes investigated. Specifically, the resolution details that it is considered necessary to adopt the measure of provisional prison communicated and without bail “to avoid the risk of flight, (…) and also to prevent him from attacking protected legal goods again.” And it adds that there is “no other precautionary measure that does not seriously compromise the state of the case.”
Furthermore, the judge has agreed to inhibit herself in favor of the Court of Instance of Murcia, the judicial district where the events took place, which will continue with the instruction of the procedure. And also the court where last April he was convicted for gender violence against his ex-partner, with whom he had a minor daughter.
That sentence, by agreement, imposed on him, among other penalties, the prohibition to approach the victim to less than 500 meters, from her home, workplace, or any other place where she was, as well as the prohibition to communicate with her by any means for 16 months, in addition to 40 days of community service, 16 months of deprivation of the right to possess and carry weapons, and the payment of compensation of 310 euros.
Last Wednesday he violated those measures and in the afternoon went to the Carrefour Infante shopping center in the city of Murcia and murdered his ex-partner, 44 years old, in the back room of a business. Afterwards, he fled. A few hours later, the Civil Guard and the National Police surrounded the man. After midnight, agents of the Armed Institute arrested him in Puerto Lumbreras, about 90 kilometers southwest of the capital, heading towards Almería.
