A bull, the so-called Maicero, from Garcigrande, fought in sixth place, and a horse, the gray Quinientos, from Guillermo Hermoso de Mendoza, yesterday, each in their own way and both favoring the cutting of two ears, were the most outstanding notes of the second bullfight of the Semana Grande of San Sebastián.

The bull, the deepest and most mature of the four from the Salamanca ranch, shone especially for the quality of its charges, the most tempered and committed seen in the afternoon, only that to develop them it needed a muleta in front that awaited and guided them with an equally tempered command.
Daniel Luque, who, after his victory the previous afternoon, entered the bill replacing Morante de la Puebla, was able to feel them already with the cape, going out to the center in the reception and in a slow quite by verónicas that raised hopes of a great performance that finally did not come.
And it did not come, mainly because the Sevillian did not finish applying the necessary formula to achieve it, as his muletazos lacked patience at the start for the bull to finally put its head in, as well as a steadier pulse to prolong those humiliated starts that, without calm, did not quite reach the sought end. So, lacking that greater subtlety, Luque ended up relying on his ample skill to move Maicero without greater commitment and, already at the end of a work of resources and displays that, after a deep pinch and a good estocada, cut an ear from a bull that clearly offered him both.
With the third, which never fully engaged and ended up lame, Luque resolved with sufficiency until he had to kill it, given the animal’s condition, right on the edge of the boards.
Regarding the virtues of the horse, one can also speak of composure, as that was how this new gray from Guillermo Hermoso de Mendoza’s stable approached, with courage and straightforwardness, the face of the fourth bull of the afternoon, a Quinientos on which the young rider planted the banderillas with his greatest purity and truth to also end up parading a trophy.
Until then, the Navarrese had stood out more when bullfighting and fighting on his mounts than in executing the different moves, a facet in which there were various mistakes and false passes.
On the other hand, Hermoso always knew how to temper the starts of his two yearling bulls from Carmen Lorenzo on the rumps of Navegante and, above all, the great Berlín, on which he carried out a superb side gallop with the first, rounded off with very tight hermosinas, the move invented by his father that consists of passing the horse’s rump from one horn to the other.
For his part, José María Manzanares extended himself between pauses, tugs, and advantages with a first noble bull from Garcigrande, which repeated even with limited strength, and did not manage to calm the bucking and brief starts of the fifth, afflicted in the loins and which apparently stopped early in the distant cites of the Alicante bullfighter.

Amongthe foot bullfighting bulls, measured in strength and breed, the sixth, ‘Maicero’, stood out for its qualityand composure, and was also the most mature.
