The second and only night run of the Festivities in honor of the Most Holy Christ of the Remedies San Sebastián de los Reyes, held last night, has left a balance of 14 injured, all due to falls and bruises, and had a participation of 2,200 runners. The festivities, which take place from August 24 to 31, have as their main attraction their runs, known as those of little Pamplona.
The bulls from the Hermanos García Jiménez ranch stayed grouped during the run, which took place at ten o’clock on Tuesday night, with the steers leading the way on a route specially lit with lanterns over the barriers. It is the only night run in the region.

The herd covered the 820 meters to the entrance of the pens at the La Tercera bullring in less than two minutes, according to the City Council in a statement. The head of Civil Protection, Pedro Martínez, indicated that 14 injured were counted, all due to falls and bruises. The most serious assistance corresponded to an elbow fracture.
For his part, the councilor for Festivities and Security, Carlos Bolarín, valued the operation of the security device as “very positive,” reinforced for the occasion before an event expected to have a large public turnout.
The third run took place this Wednesday at eleven in the morning, with the bulls from the Zalduendo ranch. It resulted in seven injured, six of them minor and one who was transferred to the field hospital due to an elbow trauma. The run lasted 1:39 minutes until entering the bullring and 2:42 until the pens, and had 1,600 runners and just over 10,000 attendees.
The first, held on Tuesday morning, left a balance of 10 injured, mostly due to falls, with 1,800 runners and 10,000 spectators following the run from the stands and barriers. Nine injured were minor and one with reserved prognosis due to a cranioencephalic trauma, so he was referred to the Infanta Sofía Hospital. The bulls from the Hermanos Tardeu ranch were in charge of inaugurating the festivities, completing the route in two minutes and eight seconds.
In total, there will be eight runs, celebrations with more than 500 years of tradition criticized by animal rights and environmental groups. The remaining ranches are São Torcato (August 27); La Castilleja (August 28), Núñez de Tarifa (August 29); Juan Pedro Domecq and Álvaro Núñez (August 30) and Montealto (August 31).

The City Council has issued a proclamation reminding the rules for runners: only those over 16 years old and in adequate physical condition to undertake a fast run before the herd of bulls and oxen may participate. It is forbidden to run under the effects of alcohol, drugs, or any other narcotic substance; appropriate clothing and footwear must be worn, and mobile phones, bags, backpacks, or photo or video cameras cannot be carried.
There are also rules for spectators, such as leaving the inner space in the double fencing free, reserved for runners. To ensure safety, this year the special device has been expanded with more than 100 Civil Protection volunteers, tents, and rapid assistance vehicles.
For its part, Summa 112 has provided emergency technicians, medical and nursing staff, as well as the Home Assistance Unit, rapid intervention vehicles, and urgent transfer vehicles. During the runs, two field hospitals have been installed to ensure effective coordination with Infanta Sofía.
On the other hand, the bullfighting fair will feature the presence of the bullfighter Morante de la Puebla, the local matador Diego García, and novilleros such as Álvaro Serrano, as well as the prestigious National Recortadores Contest and its qualifying phase. Likewise, on Monday the City Council opened to the public the release pens where the bulls remain until the end of the festivities. Visits are free and allow getting to know the steers and bulls, until August 30 from 11:30 to 13:00 and from 18:30 to 20:30.
The program also highlights concerts by Malú, Celtas Cortos, Cali and El Dandee, Siloé, DJ Nano, and the Panorama orchestra, which will be spread across the auditorium of La Marina park, the football field on Teide street, and the Constitution square.
On the other hand, the children’s programming also stands out in the festivities, with bullfighting plans (such as runs with carts, distribution of capes, and a children’s transhumance); children’s workshops, concerts in the square, and dances, among other plans. At the fair, every day from 19:00 to 20:00, noise will be reduced to favor the participation of children and people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
