The Civil Guard is investigating the discovery of the body of a man in the Júcar River as it passes through the town of Sueca, in Valencia, according to information provided to EFE by the Local Police and the Civil Guard. According to municipal sources, the discovery occurred around 2 p.m. this Sunday, and the Local Police and the Civil Guard, who have taken charge of the investigations, went to the scene.

The Civil Guard informed EFE that around 2 p.m. they received a report at the Sueca command that there was a body floating in the Júcar River, near the Camino Azud de Cullera in the town of Sueca. The body, unidentified, was recovered by members of the GEAS (Special Group of Underwater Activities) of the Civil Guard.

The Judicial Police of the Civil Guard of Almussafes has taken over the investigation, according to the same sources. According to the Levante-EMV newspaper this Sunday, the body was found by a cyclist who was riding nearby and who alerted Emergency services. The officers are now working on identifying the man and determining whether the death occurred accidentally, from natural causes, or if there is any other circumstance that should be investigated, according to the newspaper.
