The new season of the SER Catalunya radio network — part of the Prisa group, to which EL PAÍS belongs — starts this Monday with an expansion of its Catalan-language offerings and a renewed commitment to sports, especially the coverage of FC Barcelona. Sique Rodríguez will take over the direction of the Barça broadcasts of the program Què t’hi jugues, Barça, which will feature Albert Bermúdez as narrator and the usual team of collaborators from Què t’hi jugues.

The strengthened commitment to Barça coincides with the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the first football broadcast in Catalan, promoted by Joaquim Maria Puyal from Ràdio Barcelona, the century-old radio network that later became SER Catalunya. This is a historic milestone that the station will celebrate throughout September with special programming.
The other major new feature of the schedule, which also strengthens original programming in Catalan, is the extension of Aquí Catalunya, directed by Marina Fernàndez, which will be broadcast from 7:00 to 12:00. With this change, SER Catalunya will offer uninterrupted programming in Catalan from 7:00 to 16:00. In the afternoon, Catalan programming will resume from 19:00 to 21:00 with El Balcó, presented by Anna Puigboltas, and La Graderia, which this season will be directed by Anna Palet.
In addition to leading the Barça broadcasts, Sique Rodríguez will continue to direct Què t’hi jugues! daily alongside Lluís Flaquer. The program, a benchmark for sports information on Catalan radio, maintains a format that combines current affairs, analysis, and entertainment.
The rest of the programming maintains some of its most established shows. Jordi Manau will continue every afternoon leading Llapis de Memòria, slow-paced interviews built around songs chosen by the guests, while Màxim Castillo will continue directing Tot és Comèdia, a key cultural appointment during the weekends.

Regarding the news programs, Gisela Rodríguez will continue to lead the edition of Hoy por Hoy Catalunya, while Joan Bofill will maintain the direction of the midday news, Hora 14. The weekend news will be directed by Gemma Alegrí.
The programming is completed with the local shows Aquí Girona, Aquí Barcelona, Aquí Lleida, and Aquí Camp de Tarragona, which reinforce SER Catalunya’s commitment to local and regional information.
SER Catalunya’s offerings are integrated into the new season of Cadena SER, which also starts this Monday with notable changes. The two flagship programs of the network, Hoy por Hoy and Hora 25, debut new directors with Aimar Bretos and José Luis Sastre, respectively.
SER in Catalunya closed the last season with an average of 453,000 daily listeners, and the audience of the Prisa Media group stations exceeded one million listeners. One in four listeners in Catalunya tunes in daily to one of the group’s stations.
