The Superintendence of Social Security (Suseso) delivered on Monday the instructions for the payment of the Extraordinary Child Support Bonus, the benefit that seeks to help the most vulnerable families with a contribution of 30,000 pesos (32 dollars) for households with children under 13 years old. The law containing the benefit has already been passed by the National Congress and published in the Official Gazette. It is estimated that the delivery of the aid will be completed before the National Holidays on September 18 and 19.

The 30,000 pesos per child bonus has been promoted by the Government of José Antonio Kast, which has sought to contain the impact of the fuel price increase in March, which has influenced the rise in the cost of living with the increase in the price of several basic products. Added to these is the complicated overall economic scenario, which has been marked by high unemployment, rising inflation, and slow growth in productive activity.
What is the 30,000 pesos per child bonus
The benefit arises from Law No. 21,840 and is granted only once. It is aimed at children up to 13 years old who, as of June 1, 2026, belong to the 80% of the most vulnerable households in the South American country according to the information from the Social Household Registry (RSH). The contribution was announced by President Kast during the Public Account on June 1. The Minister of Social Development, María Jesús Wulff, has highlighted that with the implementation of the benefit, a commitment made by the Government to the public is fulfilled. “This bonus seeks to alleviate the situation of thousands of households with children who are currently calculating to cover the basics, and it is paid without applications or procedures, using the information the State already has. We assumed this commitment during the Public Account and today we have fulfilled it,” said Wulff. The bonus was debated in Congress, which passed it on September 2 after the final approval by the Chamber of Deputies.
Who is eligible for the aid
The bonus is aimed at families with children under 13 years old who are in the 80% of the most vulnerable households in the RSH. The Executive has added other beneficiary groups such as extended families, families of trusted adults, or foster families, without the need to belong to the most vulnerable percentage. Pregnant mothers have also been included, with children born from June 2, 2026, to March 15, 2027, who belong to the 80% most vulnerable. In this last case, the beneficiary is the mother, who receives the payment after March 15, 2027. Suseso has detailed the priorities when assigning the state contribution: if the child is a beneficiary of the Family Subsidy, Family or Maternal Allowance, the subsidy for people with mental disabilities, or for people with severe physical or sensory disabilities, or if they belong to a family using the Securities and Opportunities subsystem. If none of these situations apply, the benefit will go to the head of household designated in the RSH. Chileans can find out which RSH bracket they belong to on the Single Social Window platform, accessed with the ClaveÚnica.
When is the child bonus paid
The authorities have not yet provided an exact date for the start of payment of the Extraordinary Child Support Bonus, although the publication of the law in the Official Gazette was completed on September 4. If procedures proceed normally, it is possible that the amount will be available before September 18.
How to receive the money
The institution in charge of delivering the money is the Social Security Institute (IPS). It is paid once through direct transfer to the beneficiaries’ bank accounts. The transfer is made to a single account and must be claimed within a maximum period of nine months. The benefit does not constitute remuneration or income, so it is not subject to social security contributions or taxes and is not subject to deductions. Additionally, it is exempt from seizure and cannot be withheld or offset by public or private institutions.
What to do if I do not receive the bonus
People who meet the requirements but have not received the child bonus can file a claim with the IPS. The deadline to claim is 15 months from September 4, 2026, the date the law was published in the Official Gazette.
