‘Cara al show’ by Marc Giró narrowly beats ‘Al cielo con ella’ by Henar Álvarez in their first duel, while Telecinco dominates

The battle in audiences between Marc Giró and Henar Álvarez was highly anticipated. The comedian was one of the Catalan presenter’s collaborators in the early days of his previous Late Xou. Furthermore, both had similar formats in a prime time full of celebrity interview shows. But, above all, the battle between La Sexta’s Cara al Show and La 1’s Al cielo con ella was the great contest between Atresmedia and TVE, from whom the private group stole one of the public channel’s stars. The first duel this Tuesday made him the winner, albeit by a narrow margin.

Cara al Show reached an average of 727,000 viewers and an 8.5% screen share compared to Álvarez’s 729,000 viewers and 8.0%, who, although she won in viewers (thanks to her shorter duration), failed to reach the share of Antena 3’s secondary channel. Both options, however, were far from the numbers of Supervivientes: Tierra de Nadie on Telecinco (950,000 viewers and 15.6% share), which prepared a special gala for the confrontations between Claudia and Gerard, and Antena 3’s Turkish series, En tierra lejana (average 837,000 viewers and 11.3%).

The main difference in both data lies, however, in the channel they are on. Because while Al cielo con ellas, which featured Loles León and Silvia Intxaurrondo as guests, placed three points below La 1’s daily average, Giró, who hosted Estopa, Eduardo Casanova, and Jordi Évole, surpassed La Sexta’s usual average by more than two points. Furthermore, while the former loses two points since La revuelta, the latter gains one and a half points of share after El intermedio. It is La Sexta’s best premiere in six years and improves the channel’s slot by 4 share points this season, Atresmedia confirms.

It must also be taken into account, in favor of the public channel, that it is easier to hook viewers with a first program that arouses curiosity, although Álvarez runs the risk of continuing to decline, after starting as a leader with Shakira and after two weeks of falling. For now, she has not found a floor.

At the program’s presentation a week ago in Madrid, Giró mixed philosophy with competitiveness for this duel: “Everything that goes well for Henar is like it goes well for me. Rivalries are very much a folk singer thing, but I wish everyone the best, although I hope I do better myself.”
