During the last month I have used these five ironing boards at home on different laundry days, alternating them to compare them in real situations. I have tested them with various everyday garments such as basic t-shirts, shirts, pants, skirts… In each session I observed how they respond in daily use, evaluating sensations such as smoothness when ironing, the feeling of security when moving the garment over the surface, and the ease of performing repetitive tasks without the process becoming uncomfortable or tiring. Who is it for: for those looking for a simple and economical ironing board, designed for regular domestic use.
Why we recommend it: during the trial period it always remained quite solid and without wobbling, even when used with large garments like sheets and tablecloths. Since its legs are thick, it conveys security. It has a small antenna to hook the cable and prevent it from rubbing against clothes or bothering, which I thought I wouldn’t use, but it ended up being a very practical detail. Also, its wide surface was ideal for days when I had less time and needed to iron faster. Thus, I could easily handle the most common garments without having to reposition them every few seconds. Overall, the ironing was very effective, except with especially thick fabrics like stiff jeans or damp sweatshirts, as the ironing board surface does not absorb as much pressure and in some areas I had to insist a little more to remove the deepest wrinkles. However, the steam evacuation is excellent; after several ironing sessions it never accumulated moisture under the fabric. The cover also withstands continuous contact with high temperatures well without showing shine or marks.
Equally interesting is its integrated plug, thanks to which I was less dependent on the location of plugs at home and gained comfort when placing the board. Still, I moved it between different rooms and, as it is quite light, I transported and placed it without complications. I was also able to perfectly adjust the height of the board, achieving maximum comfort depending on the moment: higher or lower, depending on whether I needed a quick touch-up or a long session with more accumulated clothes.
Its weak points: although it offers very balanced performance, it is a step behind models like Foppapedretti or Arredamenti Italia in terms of robustness and stability, especially in intensive sessions or with more demanding garments.
Stability: Foppapedretti Assai
Who is it for: for those who need a high-quality, stable ironing board with practical features for intensive domestic use.
Why we recommend it: available in several colors such as white, wenge or brown, it has many similarities with the Arredamenti Italia model. For example, the structure is made of wood, in this case its manufacturer has opted for varnished beech, and it also has a grid support for the iron with a foldable design and a lower shelf to place some of the already ironed clothes.
On the other hand, unlike its competitor, the height can be adjusted to three levels and the legs have rubber wheels that facilitate its movement once folded in case it needs to be moved from one place to another. The folding and unfolding process is not complicated, but you have to get the hang of it.
It perfectly fulfills its purpose: the stability is among the best and the length and width it incorporates provide great comfort even with some more complicated garments like shirts. As expected, both the thick filter placed under the iron cover and the cover itself (made of cotton) are included.
Its weak points: it is among the less economical options in the comparison.
Robustness: Arredamenti Italia 622 Astir
Who is it for: for those looking for a sturdy ironing board with a solid wood structure for prolonged use.
Why we recommend it: it offers one of the highest construction qualities in the comparison since its structure is made of solid beech wood. This material gives it high resistance, especially if it will be used continuously, although as a downside it should be noted that it is quite heavy. Meanwhile, the four legs supporting this structure – include stoppers to prevent floor scratching – provide good stability.
The finish of the board where clothes are ironed also leaves good impressions as it is a perforated and galvanized metal mesh. However, the quality of both the polyester fabric and the cotton cover that protect it could be improved. This is one of the aspects we liked the least, besides the fact that the height cannot be adjusted.
For its part, the support where the iron is placed is made of iron, is spacious and has a retractable design, thus facilitating folding when it needs to be stored. The detail of including a lower shelf to place ironed clothes is very good.
Its weak points: non-adjustable height and cover of improvable quality. It is also the heaviest of all analyzed.
Suitable for ironing seated: Taurus Argenta Elegance
Who is it for: for those who opt for a model with a good quality-price ratio
Why we recommend it: known for its appliances, Taurus also has many other products and accessories for the home in its catalog like this ironing board that has left very positive impressions. After unfolding it (open it measures 170 x 48 x 98 mm) its structure appears solid and resistant.
The same happens with the iron rest: this component, along with those incorporated in the Arredamenti Italia and Foppapedretti models, not only has a quality finish but due to its characteristics can also be used with small ironing centers. By the way, it can be folded so that when storing the iron it takes up less space.
The ironing surface, which is covered with polyester foam and a cotton cover, is wide and spacious, while the height can be comfortably adjusted: it starts from a minimum height of 600 mm and can be extended up to 980 mm. Another detail that has been well resolved is the movement of the board once closed by incorporating two stable wheels that facilitate movement.
Its weak points: it has fewer extras than other higher-end models.

Who is it for: ideal for those who want a medium-sized board, comfortable and with practical safety and organization extras.
Why we recommend it: it is a medium-sized ironing board that incorporates two interesting extras. The first is a safety system called Click & Stop that prevents it from accidentally closing, either while ironing or moving it from one place to another.
The second is that the area where the iron is placed has a couple of slots to hang two hangers directly: this is useful if, for example, you have ironed pants and/or a shirt and do not want to put the garments directly in the closet before finishing with the rest of the clothes.
With an ironing surface of 1,200 x 380 mm, it is height adjustable (between 75 mm and 960 mm) through a mechanism that includes a lever that is quite easy to handle. It perfectly fulfills its purpose, is comfortable to use and the iron slides smoothly and continuously.
The manufacturing quality is correct for its price. Also the stability, although it is slightly improvable compared to other models. Other points of interest are: steel legs in the shape of a T and a cover made of two layers, one of cotton and another of foam.
Its weak points: slightly lower stability than other models and medium size that may be limited for very large pieces.
