Renfe has taken legal action against the far-right agitator Vito Zoppellari Quiles, known as Vito Quiles, for an alleged fraud offense, according to several media outlets and confirmed by this newspaper. The complaint is based on three facts: repeatedly traveling full routes despite having tickets only for part of the journey, using VIP lounges without authorized access, and causing reputational damage to the railway company.

According to Renfe sources, on August 11 Quiles bought a ticket to travel on the AVE from Alicante to Albacete, used a comfort seat he had not contracted, and continued his journey to Madrid after leaving the Castilian-Manchegan city. He had not paid for this second part of the trip. In the end, after the conductor’s insistence, Quiles paid the amount corresponding to the excess travel. Additionally, the company confirmed that “that day he had used an Executive lounge, for which he did not have access” with the purchased ticket.
As part of this procedure, according to the railway company, Quiles has been summoned twice by the court to testify. The first time was suspended because he could not be located, and the second because he did not appear despite being notified “in the terms provided by the Criminal Procedure Law,” and they state that Quiles did not present any justification to excuse himself.
The far-right agitator has protested via X: “Never before has a public company investigated the private travels of an individual,” he wrote, arguing that the investigation took place while “they neglected the maintenance of the tracks that caused 47 deaths,” referring to those who died in the Gellida and Adamuz accidents. Quiles has used social media to assert: “I have never jumped on a train” (the complaint states that part of the journeys had not been paid for) and that everything “is a hoax.” “I will go to court and I will beat you again,” he concluded.

The Minister of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, Óscar Puente, has also commented on this: “My goodness, the unaccompanied minor migrants [menas],” he limited himself to writing. He also published a screenshot of the court order in which it can be read that the court has admitted a case in which Renfe acts as a party. The document states that Quiles was summoned to testify “as an investigated person” on March 24, 2026, at 11:30.
The complaint comes one day after the Congress Board temporarily suspended the press accreditations of Quiles and activist Bertrand Ndongo, and adds to the complaint filed by the secretary general of the consumer organization Facua, Rubén Sánchez, on April 27 against the agitator. In his case, nine years in prison are requested for three continuous offenses of slander with the aggravating factor of ideological hatred, according to a provisional conclusions document.
In the case of the consumer organization, the private prosecution demands a total of 12,000 euros in compensation (20 euros daily for 20 months) and that the accused be disqualified from carrying out any activity related to journalism during that period, as well as publishing a video on his social networks and on the EDA TV channel, where he uploads his videos, reading the ruling.
