A man between 30 and 40 years old died this Monday after suffering a high-voltage electric shock in a transformer station ―an installation responsible for transforming high voltage energy to low voltage― of a mutual insurance company in the town of Torrejón de Ardoz, Madrid. The man was trapped inside this facility on Primavera Street, in the Las Monjas industrial estate. Authorities have not been able to confirm if he was a worker.
The mutual insurance company workers called Emergency 112 around 3:30 p.m. when, after losing power, they went to the transformer station to see what was happening and found a man asking for help who could not get out because he was trapped, according to sources from the Madrid Community Emergency Services.

Firefighters from the Madrid Community, agents from the National and Local Police of Torrejón de Ardoz, as well as medical personnel from Summa 112, have gone to the scene. Upon the firefighters’ arrival, the trapped man was still able to communicate, but when they managed to rescue him, after the electric company confirmed the power supply had been cut, he was already unconscious and in cardiopulmonary arrest due to the electric shock.
Summa 112 medical personnel could only confirm the death of this man. The National Police have taken charge of the investigation into what happened.
