A person has died after being hit by a train this Thursday near the Cardenal Cisneros footbridge in Palencia city. Rail traffic has been interrupted due to the accident, according to data provided by the Castilla y León 112 Emergency Service, Adif, and passengers on the route.
The events occurred around 16:40 this Thursday, when 112 was informed of a person being hit by a train, whose identity and age have not been disclosed, on the railway track located next to Avenida de los Reyes Católicos, near the Cardenal Cisneros footbridge. Adif has stopped rail traffic passing through Palencia following the accident and added that the person hit was “at an unauthorized crossing point,” according to posts on their X account.

One of the passengers on that train, Juan P. Martín, 46 years old, says they were stopped for about an hour and a half, and that the journey resumed at 18:14. Martín was traveling in the last carriage and recounts how, although he did not see the accident, he saw several police officers arrive “with worried faces, running towards the front of the train.”
112 alerted Adif, which was already aware of the events, the Palencia Local Police, the National Police Corps, and Sacyl, which dispatched a mobile ICU to the scene, although the death of the person hit has been confirmed.
