Spanish singer Amaia has starred in the latest episode of Tiny Desk, the famous concert series by American public radio NPR, broadcast live this Thursday and later published on YouTube. “Spanish singer and multi-instrumentalist Amaia moves between ferocity and sweetness. Her music flirts with flamenco but never forgets its roots,” reads the introduction accompanying the YouTube publication.

In the performance, the singer performed six songs from her repertoire: C’est la vie, Nanai, Zorongo, Auxiliar, Giratutto and Yamaguchi, with a group of musicians who accompanied her on percussion, guitar, and violin. Additionally, she herself demonstrated her skills as an instrumentalist by using a chair as a flute.
The artist thus joins other Spanish singers who have performed at this station’s legendary desk, such as Guitarrica de la Fuente, C. Tangana, María José Llergo, Sílvia Pérez Cruz, or Rusowsky. This “stage,” which over the years has become one of the most prestigious in the world, has also hosted international artists such as Olivia Rodrigo, Sabrina Carpenter, Adele, Coldplay, or Bad Bunny.
Amaia Romero, 27 years old and born in Pamplona, rose to fame in 2017 when she participated in and won the music reality show Operación Triunfo, which also led her to participate in the Eurovision festival. Since then, she has released three albums: Pero no pasa nada (2019); Cuando no sé quién soy (2022) and Si abro los ojos no es real (2025). Recently, she made the leap to the big screen with a cameo in Pedro Almodóvar’s new film, Amarga Navidad, and before that, she was part of the series La Mesías, by Los Javis.
