A magnitude 5.9 earthquake shook the Kanto region, where Tokyo is located, at 2:00 a.m. local time (7:00 p.m. in the Peninsula) this Sunday. So far, there are no reports of personal injuries.

The Japan Meteorological Agency has confirmed that there is no tsunami warning due to this earthquake, with the epicenter in the Ibaraki area, according to the Japanese public television, NHK.

The tremor was felt in the territories of Ibaraki and also in those of Saitama, Chiba, and the capital, Tokyo, with a hypocenter located about 70 kilometers deep.
