Just a look at the comments on the videos and the singer’s posts on her social media shows that what is being talked about is her physical appearance, which has been a topic of discussion for years. On Sunday, August 2, her representative announced that the artist had decided to step away from the “public attention” after the tour due to the “constant scrutiny” of her appearance. And this Monday, the artist herself spoke openly about her decision for four minutes. She explained herself during the stop of her Eternal Sunshine Tour in Chicago.
“The announcement made yesterday is not an impulsive reaction. It is a plan I quietly made a long time ago. It is a decision made from a thoughtful and empowered place,” the actress also explained to the attendees at her concert. “I have heard that my followers were worried that negativity was ruining things for me, but I have to say it couldn’t be more the opposite. It’s not about that. Several things can be true at the same time: sometimes you have to set boundaries, and humans sometimes need a break. This will continue to be the best experience of my professional and creative life,” she continued about her new tour.
“No matter how many rumors are out there, nothing will ever distort my reality or feel more real or intense than this love we share. The rest of that crap is not mine to carry, so I don’t. I need to get out there and separate that from my truth for all of you because I love you and this tour has been the most healing, beautiful, enriching, magnificent, and special experience of my life,” she concluded. And before resuming the concert, she admitted feeling “good”: “I wish words were enough to express how much I love you.”
Before taking that break and stepping away from the public spotlight, Ariana Grande still has two more concerts in Chicago and then will move on to the United Kingdom, where she has 10 shows scheduled at the O2 Arena in London. The last one is on September 1, which will mark the end of the tour.

It was one of her representatives who exclusively confirmed to People magazine that the singer was going to disappear for a while. “She is eager to finish the tour on a high note, healthy and happy, and then take a well-deserved break from her work and public appearances, which have subjected her to constant and relentless public scrutiny,” he said.
This break not only affects her music career. Although it is not known how long she will take a break, it has been confirmed that this means she will not participate in the West End revival of Sunday in the Park with George (scheduled to premiere in summer 2027), in which she was announced as the lead alongside Jonathan Bailey, her co-star in Wicked. “We know it was not an easy decision, and she makes it with our full understanding and support. We wish her all the best,” the theater producers said to the Daily Mail this Monday. They also confirmed that the show will go on and that the new cast will be announced “in due course.”
Despite the temporary break, the comedy Now the In-Laws Are Them, the third part of the movie starring Ben Stiller and Robert de Niro, The In-Laws, in which Grande plays Stiller’s daughter-in-law, a former FBI negotiator, premieres on November 25. It remains to be seen whether she will participate in the promotion or continue to stay in the background.
The singer’s physical appearance and health have been a topic of public debate in recent years.
