The best waterproof headphone of 2026
Just as there are water-resistant phones, there are also headphones that are. In this regard, one of the great advantages of waterproof headphones is that they integrate an MP3 player, so you listen to your favorite music directly without needing to use the smartphone, which is practical for swimming or training in the water. Thus, you just need to load the songs you select into their internal memory to enjoy your music library.

Also, many of these headphones use bone conduction technology, meaning they transmit sound through the skull bones to the inner ear since they do not cover or enter the ear canal. The interesting part? Since the ears remain free, you perceive environmental sounds much better, improving your safety as well. Waterproof headphones also have a certified water resistance that guarantees their durability in this environment.
How we chose and tested the products
To make this comparison, I selected four models from the catalogs of Creative, Energy Sistem, Ifecco, and Shokz. I tested them practicing one of my favorite sports, swimming, taking advantage of the long summer days I spend at the pool in my residential complex.
The aspects I considered in their respective analyses were the following:
- Design: in this section, I mainly evaluated the choice of materials and ergonomics to ensure they are comfortable to use.
- Sound quality: assessing if the audio they produce is clear, balanced, and powerful enough for a satisfying experience in the water.
- Handling and controls: how easy it is to learn to use them and change tracks, adjust volume, or turn them on and off quickly and without complications.
- Battery life: how many hours of continuous playback they allow before recharging their battery.
Why can you trust me?
I have been in tech journalism for two decades. During this time, I have had the privilege of witnessing how technology advances to make daily life easier and have been able to report it in various media. Although I have lost count of how many products have passed through my hands, I confess that my enthusiasm and feelings remain the same. Laptops, tablets, phones, cameras, fitness bands, smartwatches… I set no limits when choosing a device and make the most of its possibilities as a true tech consumer.
1) Own app: Shokz OpenSwim Pro waterproof headphones

Who is it for: if you are looking for advanced bone conduction headphones aimed at both swimming and outdoor sports thanks to their IP68 certification.
Why we chose them: along with the Creative model, these are the headphones that offer the best sound quality in the comparison: voices are heard clearly, instruments are distinguishable from each other, and the bass, although not especially powerful, has a proper presence. Underwater, using the specific swimming mode of their MP3 player and the earplugs included in the box, the audio improves significantly and playback is much cleaner.
Also, their Shokz app allows switching between different equalization profiles to tailor the listening experience to our preferences, which is an added value. Through this app, it is also possible to easily switch between Bluetooth and MP3 modes, as well as configure button controls, such as playback management or track changes.
Regarding design, the quality of its structure meets what you expect from a model in this range, and when worn, they barely generate a feeling of pressure, even during a long training session.
The support system behind the neck keeps them firm when running or swimming without needing constant readjustment. Handling is also very well done. The physical buttons are large enough to locate by touch and respond with good precision even with wet hands.
Its weak points: it is the most expensive option in the comparison.
2) Multipoint connectivity: Creative Outlier Free Pro+ waterproof headphones

Who is it for: a good choice if what you value most is build quality and enjoying clear sound, even underwater.
Why we chose them: as with the other models I analyzed, the first thing that caught my attention is their original aesthetics. And since they work with bone conduction technology, in practice you perceive slight vibrations on the facial bones, something peculiar at first but that fades over time. Regarding sound, they stand out very positively: voices are perceived clear and sharp, the bass has enough punch, and the soundstage surprised me with its breadth.
They almost feel like they float behind the head. The design is carefully detailed: a titanium alloy frame with memory shape provides strength and flexibility, while the soft silicone coating offers a pleasant touch and the feeling of a robust yet comfortable product.
When you put them on, a small twist is enough for the transducers to fit the contour of the cheekbones, while the rear band stays firm around the neck without squeezing or bothering, even with sudden movements. However, pay attention to an important detail before diving in: make sure to close the microphone cover properly, as if not sealed well, moisture can enter and affect functionality.
A double press is enough to activate the integrated 8 GB MP3 player where you can store your favorite songs; additional gestures allow you to skip forward or backward, adjust volume, and even invoke the configured voice assistant (Siri or Google Assistant).
Battery life is around ten hours of continuous use at moderate volume, and a full charge takes about two hours. A practical extra is fast charging: just ten minutes gives you up to two more hours of listening, a perfect lifesaver if you leave home in a hurry.
Its weak points: The learning curve is short, though it requires some practice to operate without looking. At first, the controls feel a bit stiff. Not compatible with WMA files.
3) In black with green details: Ifecco X7 waterproof headphones

Who is it for: do you need waterproof headphones with huge capacity? This model has an MP3 player with 32 GB internal memory.

Why we chose them: it offers a clean-lined design mainly combining two materials (silicone and plastic), and the impression is good in terms of quality. It is the first time I try headphones from this brand, and I confess the experience surprised me positively, thanks to a very well-achieved overall balance, especially in sound quality, which is clear, well-defined, and quite homogeneous across all frequencies.
On the other hand, I found it comfortable and precise to use the control buttons thanks to their texture. Unlike other headphones, I had no problems adjusting volume, changing songs, pausing music, or activating the voice assistant by applying different button combinations. The call quality also surprised me: the voice is heard with more than acceptable clarity for a model in this price range.
Regarding battery life, official figures state about eight hours of use, and in practice, the experience usually matches similar figures, always depending on volume and whether you use Bluetooth or the integrated music player. Charging is done via a magnetic cable that also transfers music, taking about two hours to reach 100%.
Its weak points: its shuffle mode for song playback does not fully convince me.
4) LED lights for better visibility: Energy Sistem AquaSport waterproof headphones

Who is it for: if you are interested in waterproof headphones with an integrated microphone, pay attention!
Why we chose them: when you put them on for the first time, you notice how their curved lines adapt quite naturally to the shape of the head and cheekbones without exerting uncomfortable pressure. It is noticeable, in this respect, that the headband design, made with flexible rubber, is correct: it provides a firm but pleasant grip, even when you jump into the water or push off strongly from the pool edge; this stability makes you feel safer and distractions are minimized.
Meanwhile, their bone conduction system adds a somewhat peculiar sensation: you perceive soft vibrations on the cheekbones that transmit sound directly, leaving the ears free and allowing you to be aware of what is happening around you. Although underwater the sound loses some volume and is slightly muffled, it is perceived clearly and understandably, more than enough to listen to music or even a podcast while swimming without problems.
Regarding battery life, the manufacturer announces up to eleven hours of playback: in practice — testing at medium-high volume, around 70%, and alternating between MP3 and Bluetooth functions, I got about nine hours, which is fantastic. The built-in microphone works for brief calls outside the water.
Its weak points: the physical controls require an adaptation period. Being so small, they are a bit hard to find by touch underwater or with wet fingers. The bass is not very strong and could disappoint those looking for a more immersive sound.

Yes, they are designed to work during dry training as well, thanks to their resistance to sweat and rain splashes, and they have an ergonomic design that adapts to physical activity.
What storage capacity do they offer?
It depends on the model, but usually, they have between 4 and 8 GB of internal space, allowing you to store several hundred or even more than a thousand songs.
