Three women were stabbed this Monday in Paris by an individual who was subsequently arrested by an off-duty police officer and who is under investigation to determine the motive for the attack.

The French Interior Minister, Laurent Núñez, explained at a press conference that the lives of none of these three women, aged 19, 24, and 36, are in danger, although two of them are in a state of “absolute urgency.”
Núñez, who appeared at the end of the Council of Ministers, specified that the suspect’s arrest occurred around 11:30 a.m. near Porte de Clichy, in the 17th arrondissement, northeast of the capital.
The attack was carried out with two kitchen knives. The two women who are most seriously injured were hit one in the back and the other in the abdomen.

The minister, who paid tribute to the officer who managed to subdue the alleged perpetrator, said that the individual gave an identity that is being verified, as he was not carrying documents.
He also called for caution when advancing the possible motivations for his action and stated that his initial explanations were “incoherent.”
In a video circulating on social media, the alleged attacker is heard declaring: “It was Allah who ordered me.” Núñez insisted that it will be the judicial authorities who will determine the motive for the incident.
